Number 58: 'Democracy, Communism or Socialism? Defend your choice'.
It might just be because I'm a politics undergrad, but the way the question is phrased implies that none of the options are at all compatible with each other. Which is just wrong. Because it's easy to reconcile socialism with democracy. In fact the whole Socialist paradigm, as I understand it, rests on the notion of an egalitarian society, which in turn entails a substantial amount of democracy. The question should be 'Capitalism, Communism or Socialism?' as it is extremely hard to placate any two of these ideas. Anyway, I just thought I'd share this with you because seven years at a grammar school and four years of higher education make you really anal and boring about things. Basically the moral of the story is learn your -ism's. Or you might look like a fool.
On another note, this is a video explaining the difference between Keynes and Hayek. It explains the different economic ideologies of capitalism and socialism. Sort of. Anyway it's fun and it's really good.
There's a second part to this video as well if you loved the first bit as much as I did. Just google 'Hayek and Keynes Round 2' and I'm sure you'll find it.
